What’s a super simple way that you can support the environment? Go hiking in a park when you take your dog out! Not only is hiking a great way “check off” taking your dog out, but it is also a great exercise for both you and your dog! On top of all that, you are supporting your local park. By hiking at a local park or walking to the park, you are also helping the environment by not using as much gas to go somewhere else.
When you are hiking, there are several ways that you can help the environment:

- Pick up any litter that you see. It doesn’t take much work to pick up a stray bottle or plastic bag and hold it until you find a trash can. If you are hiking somewhere where there is a lot of trash, think about bringing along a bag that you can collect litter in.
- Leave no trace. When you are hiking, remember this quote from John Muir: “Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time.” When you go hiking, make sure that you are careful of the environment where you are and that you are preserving it for the next hiker who comes along.
