Countdown to Earth Day: Pick Up The Poo

Countdown to Earth Day: Pick Up The Poo

Today we are tackling some myths about dog poo. Why? It’s such an important topic for dog owners, especially dog owners who want to be responsible and protect the environment.

Myth #1: It’s natural and it’s fertilizer.

Many people think that dog poo is just a natural fertilizer that doesn’t need to be taken care of. Since dogs are omnivores, their poo is full of nitrogen and phosphorus. In fact, they are so high that instead of fertilizing your lawn, they may actually kill it!

Myth #2: It will wash away.

Along with thinking that it’s a natural fertilizer, many people think that it will just wash away. This is not true. In fact, dog poo has been known to take nine weeks or more to fully decompose. (Want to know what the process is like? Check it out here.) That means that whatever droppings your dog does either on your lawn, your neighbor’s lawn, or alongside the park trail will be there for a good long while.

Myth #3: It’s not hurting anyone.

When was the last time you stepped in a pile of dog poo? Nothing about the experience is fun. What’s even worse? When your dog accidentally steps in dog poo and then you have to get it cleaned out. No one enjoys it and no one appreciates it. By picking it up, you are preserving the good experience you are having for whoever comes down the trail after you.

Truth: WoofPack helps.

Let’s face it. It’s never fun to carry stinky plastic bags of dog poo until you find a trash can. Sometimes, it feels easier to just let the poo sit. That’s where the WoofPack comes in. With an antimicrobial-lined pocket, it can store the poo while trapping the smell! Outside pockets hold personal items, from dog treats to keys to your phone. Say goodbye to the poo and hello to your new favorite Pack!

Remember, picking up your dog’s poo may not be fun, but it is necessary. It shows respect for the people who will be walking after you and the environment.
